Laboratory Investigation of Geobag Revetment Performance in Rivers

چکیده
Geobag (sand-filled geotextile bags) revetments have recently emerged as long-term riverbank protection measures in developing countries; however, their performance is still not well understood. The hydraulic stability of geobag used for has been studied within an extensive laboratory programme to improve our understanding the complete failure processes revetments. A 1:10 scale distorted physical model was tested a flume, comparing range different construction methods and revetment side slopes, subjected flow loading. results indicate that whilst mechanisms are highly dependent on water depth slope, method had no noticeable impact. It thus concluded dominating factor friction between individual geobags, which itself bag longitudinal overlap rather than specific method.

Width of laminar laboratory rivers.
A viscous fluid flowing over plastic grains spontaneously generates single-thread channels. With time, these laminar analogues of alluvial rivers reach a reproducible steady state, showing a well-defined width and cross section. In the absence of sediment transport, their shape conforms with the threshold hypothesis which states that, at equilibrium, the combined effects of gravity and flow-ind...

Failure Mechanism in Geobag Structure
This paper presents observed failure modes for a geobag structure from a series of physical modeltests. Six hundred bags were employed to observe the failure in terms of friction force, water depth, flow rateand bag aging. Three different failures are reported. An analysis of the effect of bag aging shows that 52% ofsaturated bags gain weight in the range 0 to 5% and about 70% of in...
متن کاملLaboratory Investigation of Aerobic Granular Sludge Performance at High Temperature
In this research, the formation and development of aerobic granular sludge (AGS) for domestic wastewater treatment application in hot climate conditions was studied using a sequencing batch reactor (SBR). The performance of the developed AGS in the removal of organic matter and nutrients from wastewater was also investigated. The operation of the reactor was based on the sequencing batch system...
